Areas of Interest
The Missouri State Archives has operated a successful eVolunteer program since 1999. Participants work from home indexing and/or transcribing records from images, which are then made accessible online. Some eVolunteer projects, including indexing death certificates, are completed through web-based applications, while others involve offline data-entry.

Each month, the Missouri State Archives welcomes hundreds of visitors and receives more than six hundred information requests. Volunteers help staff answer general reference questions; conduct microfilm, printed materials and original document research; reshelf books; photocopy materials; and answer telephones.
Volunteers assist Missouri State Archives staff with the arrangement and description of historic state records. Projects may include both paper records and visual materials, such as photographs, negatives or slides. Typical tasks include flat-folding materials; removing foreign objects (staples, paper clips, etc.); and labeling folders.

Every spring, thousands of fourth- and fifth-grade students attend Archives Alive! performances and tours at the Missouri State Archives. Volunteer docents assist staff by leading tours of the lobby, stacks and reference room.
These tasks are all integral to the operation of the Missouri State Archives. Contact them today for further information!
